Custom packaging FAQs

Clear answers for planning custom boxes

Explore practical guidance on quantities, pricing, box styles, dimensions, materials, printing, artwork, production and UK delivery.

01

Orders, quantities and pricing

The commercial details that shape a custom packaging quotation.

01Is there a minimum order quantity for custom boxes?

We can review both short runs and larger production requirements. The most suitable production method and unit cost depend on box style, size, material, print coverage and total quantity, so share your target quantity in the custom quote form.

02What information do you need to prepare a quote?

Useful starting details are the product or internal box dimensions, quantity, preferred style, material, printing, finishes, artwork status and delivery postcode. If some details are unknown, select “Need advice” and describe the product.

03Why does the unit price change with quantity?

Custom packaging includes setup work such as artwork checks, printing preparation, cutting tools and machine setup. These fixed costs are distributed across the production quantity, which usually reduces the unit price at higher volumes.

04Can I request more than one quantity for comparison?

Yes. Add the quantity options in your project notes—for example 250, 500 and 1,000 units—and our team can assess suitable price breaks for the same specification.

02

Box styles and sizing

Choosing a structure that fits, protects and presents your product correctly.

01How do I choose the right box style?

Consider product weight, fragility, presentation, opening experience, packing speed, storage and delivery method. Browse our box style guide or send product details for a recommendation.

02Should I provide internal or external dimensions?

Internal dimensions are preferred for product fit. State the order as length × width × depth and include the unit. If you only know the product size, share that information and explain any clearance, insert or protective space required.

03Can Craft Boxes create a completely custom structure?

Yes. Bespoke structures can be assessed around the product, packing process and intended presentation. A physical sample, reference photograph or simple sketch can help communicate how the packaging should work.

04Can you add inserts, dividers or windows?

Inserts, dividers, trays and window patches can be considered where the material, product weight, visibility and assembly requirements support them. Mention these features when requesting a quote.

03

Materials and sustainability

Board selection, responsible sourcing and practical performance.

01Which materials are available for custom packaging?

Common options include kraft paperboard, folding boxboard, corrugated board, rigid greyboard and recycled grades. The appropriate choice depends on strength, finish, print quality, product contact and budget.

02Do you offer recyclable or recycled packaging?

Recyclable and recycled-content options are available for many projects. The complete structure—including coatings, laminations, windows, adhesives and inserts—must be considered when assessing recyclability. See our sustainability guidance.

03Are FSC-certified material options available?

FSC-certified material options can be discussed for suitable projects and supply routes. Confirm certification requirements at quotation stage so they can be checked against the selected board and production specification.

04Can packaging be made suitable for food products?

Food packaging suitability depends on direct or indirect contact, barrier requirements, grease or moisture exposure, printing and the necessary compliance documentation. Provide full product and contact details before material approval.

05

Production, proofs and delivery

What happens after the specification and artwork are agreed.

01How long does custom packaging production take?

Lead time varies with structure, quantity, material availability, print method, finishes and proof approval. Your quotation will set out the expected schedule. Time-sensitive dates should be shared before the order is confirmed.

02Can I see a proof before the boxes are produced?

A digital proof is normally used to confirm artwork position and content. Physical sampling may be available or recommended for selected structures and projects; ask about sampling requirements during quotation.

03Do you deliver custom boxes across the UK?

Yes, delivery is available across the UK. Supply the complete delivery postcode and any access or booking requirements so transport can be assessed accurately.

04What happens after I submit the quote form?

You will receive an email copy of the information submitted. Our team will review the structure, dimensions, material, print, finishing, artwork and delivery details, then contact you if clarification is needed or to progress the quotation.
